More Celebrity Names added to Cricket Legends Match

Jeff Thomson, Adam Hollioake and Marc Ellis have been confirmed to be joining the already stellar lineup of cricketing greats at the Legends of Cricket Art Deco Match.

Affectionately known as “Thommo”, Thomson played for Australia 1972-1985 and is widely recognised as one of the game’s all-time greats.

Former English captain Adam Hollioake played for England between 1996-1999, and when on to play First-class and Twenty20 for clubs such as Essex and Surrey before retiring in 2007.  He now competes professionally as a Mixed Martial Arts fighter and Boxer.

While Marc Ellis is best-known for his skills on the rugby field, rumour has it his cricketing skills aren’t too bad either.

Players already confirmed are 1992 Cricket World Cup stars Chris Harris and Mark Greatbatch, Dion Nash, Evan Gray, Erv McSweeney, Shane Thomson,  and actor Shane Cortese (who has played for Northern Districts and Lords Tavener).

Sir Ian Botham and Ian Smith will also take part in the proceedings on the day in a non-player capacity.

The Legends of Cricket match will be a friendly 20/20 game, based on an Art Deco theme which will include players donning traditional 1930’s cricket attire with a host of sideline activity celebrating the era synonymous with Napier City and Hawke’s Bay heritage.

Food and beverages will be on sale at the match, and while the match is not BYO, spectators are welcome to bring their own picnics into the grounds.

Tickets are on sale now from Eventfinda.
