Rustie NZ Tour

Scottish DJ Rustie will be performing two shows in New Zealand this April.

Signed to Warp records, Rustie's unique production style has won him fans and accolades the world over, including winning the Guardian's first album award in 2011. Expect hip-hop samples mixed with low-slung beats and multiple synth lines, an exciting amalgamation of sound, rhythm and colour.

His shows at Wellington's James Smith and Studio in Auckland are his first shows in New Zealand.

PRESS RELEASE:

Madcap Touring & Red Rum Touring Presents... Rustie (UK)

Red Rum is extremely proud to be touring Rustie in NZ for the first time ever this April. Few acts have been as anticipated as this for so long, since his now seminal Album release on Warp 'Glass Swords' to his EP that contained two of the biggest tracks of last year 'Triadzz' & 'Slasherr'.

Born Russel Whyte is a Scottish musician hailing from Glasgow. Rustie's first instrument was guitar and he bought his first decks at age 15. He is associated with the sub-genre of aquacrunk, a genre described as an experimental offshoot of hip hop that emphasizes slowed down, low-slung beats, with lashings of electronic mutterings and morphing basslines. He believes his work conveys movement and fluidity, and that his creative process is an "immersive world" wrapped up in sound, rhythm, and colour. Rustie's long-time interest in videogames has influenced his approach to electronic composition and it shows in his production and live shows.

This will truly be a unique and special show, as not only is his sound so on point with the bass music scene today, he is a true DJ's DJ and his sets around the world have been described as nothing short of groundbreaking.
