Roxette Set For First New Zealand Visit

In a show set to be one of THE live events of the new 2012 year, Live Nation is proud to announce Roxette are coming to New Zealand for the first time to play one concert only at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday 11 February.

With hits including The Look, It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Sleeping In My Car and Dressed For Success, Roxette have had plenty of NZ chart action over the years. The 1989 single The Look made it all the way to the top spot, followed by It Must Have Been Love (from the Pretty Woman film soundtrack) in the number 2 spot in 1990 and Joyride at number 3 in 1991.

Formed in the late 80’s and with 33 chart-busting singles, record sales exceeding 75 million, more number one and top 10 hits in America than ABBA and their very own Swedish postage stamp, Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle’s pop duo Roxette earned a place in history as one of the most successful bands to come out of Sweden.

After a hiatus which included time off for Fredriksson’s recovery from a 2002 brain tumour operation, Roxette have staged a stunning comeback.    Their new album Charm School, released by EMI earlier this year, went straight to number one on the German, Czech and Swiss charts and has reached almost platinum status in Sweden.  Their supporting tour began successfully in Russia and went on to sell out throughout Europe, South America and South Africa - totaling more than one million tickets sold at 70 concerts over the last year.   Due to this overwhelming response, Roxette have decided to extend their tour to include some very special shows in Australia and New Zealand and the Sydney show announced earlier this month, sold out in just 30 minutes!

“The concerts have been amazing so far,” says Per Gessle. “Marie and the band are in top shape, the response has been incredible and the way the new album has been received is great. We feel very fortunate and look forward to a very exciting year!”

So, Kiwi Roxette fans, now is the time to call your friends, grab your tickets, listen to your heart, get dressed for success and join the joyride!
