The inaugural Splore-city festival is set to shake Auckland’s core with an eclectic line-up spanning two nights and days in Aotea Square and the Town Hall on 11 & 12 February 2011. The event will fuse a rich culture of art and performance, with music as the cornerstone of the entertainment experience. In addition to those below, further headline and New Zealand acts will be announced in approximately two weeks time.

“Splore-city will bring all the elements of Splore’s beachside festival into the city,” says festival director Amanda Wright. “Splore is known for creating immersive experiences, with attention to detail making all the difference to the audience experience of the event. With Splore, the audience knows they will be entertained on every level.”
From comments left on the Splore website and Facebook, Wright’s assertions are proven correct. It is organisation down to the finest detail that the audience enjoys, from the good food on offer and the general facilities to the top-level acts, the dressing of the site and all the extras programmed to fill the spaces in between. Between them, these make Splore the experience people don’t forget easily.
The Splore-city audience will be entertained by a programme that combines visual arts, live performance and general colourful frivolity. The Town Hall will host a variety of performance, workshops and music, concluding with the Saturday night dress-up party, which will run until 5am.
“We’re heartened by the response to last year’s festival theme,” says Wright. “it was amazing to see how much effort people went to, with approximately 75% of the audience dressing out of the ordinary. When you’ve got 8,000 people and a lot of them have dressed up, it’s a true collective festival experience.”
