New Zealand music lovers who missed out on tickets to the Vodafone Homegrown festival this long weekend can still connect with their passion at the Vodafone Music Lounge, which is open to the general public.

The Vodafone Music Lounge will be at Lower Frank Kitts Park, on the Wellington waterfront, as part of the Vodafone Interactive Area, on Saturday 26 April.

Tiki, The Phoenix Foundation, The Checks, The Coshercot Honeys and DJ Raw are confirmed to appear, along with performances by our very own Vodafone Cheerleaders.

The Vodafone Music Lounge will host a series of 20 minute workshops where band members talk about their love of music and inspirations, as well as do some impromptu jamming sessions with the audience.

After each appearance, a 15 minute photo session will take place where fans can get their picture taken with the bands and have a memento postcard printed to take away with them.

Richard Howarth, Vodafone Head of Sponsorship, says the Vodafone Music Lounge will give visitors an up-close and personal experience with some of New Zealand’ successful up-and-coming and established music acts.

”Vodafone Homegrown is about celebrating the amazing musical talent we have in this country, and it is only fair that we give everyone a chance to see these great kiwi bands,” he says.

“Anyone who loves live music and wasn’t able to secure tickets to Vodafone Homegrown can still have an amazing experience by coming down to the Vodafone Music Lounge, which is free entry.

“At Vodafone we want to connect people and their passions, and music is just one way in which we do this.”

The waterfront area will also showcase graffiti art and have a number of free performances by breakdancers, DJs and bands.
