MAREKO! He came through with the classic White Sunday first time around as a solo artist, this time around the story continues with White Sunday 2: The Book Of Mark.

Mareko has rarely been out of action since his famed crew Deceptikonz dropped their debut Elimination album in 2002, either in the studio, on the mic, producing beats, touring or helping other members of the crew craft their music.

After White Sunday Mareko played a major part in Alphrisk’s solo album The Best Kept Secret and Savage’s Moonshine album, then the second Deceptikonz album Heavy Rotation. After Deceptikonz it was straight back to the studio again for two compilation albums: Brotha D’s Element Of Surprise and the other for his crew Horsemen Family My Shout: The Album. Both prominently featured Mareko’s skills with the mic, on production and also recording and engineering. Somehow during all of this Mareko has found the time to put together White Sunday 2: The Book Of Mark and the experience of the last five years has enabled him to bring together all the elements needed for a masterpiece album.

“Gotta Go” is the first single off the album and picks up where “Soul Food (Island Way)” off the Brotha D album left off celebrating the soulful island feeling that ‘Big Rex’ (Mareko) has been bringing to his music of late and really sets the tone for the album. Mareko tells his Mum in the song he’s “Gotta go” he’s “got work to do, true” - a testament to the work put in over the past few years and into the future.

The soulful unheard voice of newcomer Mike Jacobz also compliments the track perfectly. Mareko produced “Gotta Go”, with the help of master keysman Heatchild and Brotha D.

Mareko is definitely back . . . watch out - more heat to come.
