The Smashing Pumpkins are back in New Zealand for three shows later this month, including 20 March in Wellington at the TSB Arena, followed by 22 March at Auckland's Vector Arena, and 24 March at the Westpac Arena in Christchurch.

The band is touring in support of their latest album, Zeitgeist, and their new four song EP, American Gothic. As guitar-heavy as you would expect and mostly acoustic, Gothic is a wonderful gift to the fans between albums and perfectly timed for their New Zealand tour.

The Pumpkins last toured New Zealand in 1996, and Billy Corgan performed a solo show at the St James in Auckland in 2005, but the new incarnation of the band has never visited our shores. The openers will be Queens of the Stone Age, fronted by Josh Homme, who last performed in New Zealand in 2003 at the Big Day Out.
