Touring Giselle and Swan Lake nationally throughout July and August, the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre in association with AG Productions are delighted to announce that they will introduce 3 performances of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake to their Wellington schedule.

Due to huge interest in seeing the world's favourite ballet as danced by one of Russia's greatest dance companies, The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre will perform Swan Lake in Wellington, as well as Giselle.

Celebrated for their glorious sets and lustrous costumes, the SPBT's production values truly create the perfect atmosphere for classical ballet's most romantic yet tragic works, expertly accompanied by a 47 piece theatre orchestra under the direction of Vadim Nikitin.

Swan Lake, first performed in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, is undoubtedly the most revered classic ballet of all time. With its magnificent Tchaikovsky score, Swan Lake is the jewel of the Russian classical repertoire. The SBPT is rare among ballet troupes, with 3 exceptional leading ballerinas to play the role of Odette / Odile: Irina Kolesnikova (prima ballerina), Sabina Yapparova and Anna Podlesnaya, each of whom has their own interpretation of the role, and each beautiful, emotive and a joy to watch.

Swan Lake as danced by the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is an unforgettable experience.

See The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre perform the full length productions of two classic ballets, complete with majestic sets and beautiful costumes, and accompanied by Wellington's Vector Orchestra.
