Little Bushman

Born in 2005 from a tertiary bond of friendship between Warren Maxwell, brothers Tom and Joe Callwood and Rick Cranson, Little Bushman augment their narrative with extensive personal musical histories, both on-stage and in the studio, with members having held, past or concurrent, postings with the likes of TrinityRoots, Fat Freddy’s Drop & The Phoenix Foundation plus more.

Under the Little Bushman banner, the fruits of these intertwining lives have been expressed in manifold. In a physical sense this has been achieved through their two critically acclaimed long-player albums Onus of Sand (2005) and Pendulum (2007), and a noteworthy concert recording titled Live in concert with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (2009).

On the touring circuit, in the white hot heat of the moment, their impact has been felt in numerous solo concerts and festivals throughout NZ such as Splore, Surfaid, Parihaka Peace Festival, Bluesfest NZ, Homegrown, Southern Amp, Rhythm and Vines, WOMAD and the Queenstown Winter Festival, as well as in Australia at Island Vibe, AWME and The West Coast Blues & Roots Festival, and in April 2011 a 2-show slot at the revered Byron Bay Bluesfest.
