Juice on the Loose

Juice On the Loose is an Auckland based Rhythm & Blues, Funk and Soul band formed by Alan ‘Bam’ King.

Alan is a musician who has had the privilege of sharing the billing with some of the greatest musicians of the 60′s and 70′s in his time with the Action and Mighty Baby (Egyptian Tomb, Been Down So Long); for example Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Joan Baez, Tony Jo White, Free, Pete Townsend, Leonard Cohen etc etc . He toured the US extensively in the 70′s with the band Ace (How Long?). After this Alan joined Juice on the Loose (Juice on the Loose) which became one of the most consistently in-demand acts on the London R&B scene of the 70s and 80s for delivering upbeat rhythm and blues music in the vibrant live music scene of that time.

Residing in New Zealand for the last 10 years along with his Kiwi wife Julie, Alan continues to make great music with a new incarnation of Juice on the Loose. Alan has been the focal point for a core group of 5 experienced musicians from Europe and New Zealand. The Juice on the Loose core lineup comprises lead and rhythm guitars, bass, drums, Hammond organ/piano, with three strong vocalists.

Our songs include those of blues heavyweights such as Robben Ford, BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Eric Clapton, Delbert McClinton, John Mayer, Robert Cray, Doyle Bramhall II but also great songwriters including The Band, Traffic, JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Isaac Hayes, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits.

The band is founded on the idea that good music, played well, is both uplifting and entertaining.
