Gold Panda

Gold Panda (Government name: Derwin R. Powers) is fluent in Japanese, has a degree in Asian studies and before he became a full time electronic musicians, spent several years working in a sex shop in London. Born in South London, raised in the Essex countryside and extremely comfortable doing nothing, when Gold Panda steps to the controls in his music studio or live in nightclubs across the globe, everything dovetails together into an enchanted techno hip-hop soundworld all his own.

Cutting his teeth remixing and re-editing for the likes of Little Boots, Telepathe, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco, Health and The Field, and building a buzz both offline and online, he pulled his aesthetic into sharp focus through his debut album Lucky Sinner, mixed by Simian Mobile Discos James Shaw and released via Ghostly International. Matching glossy outdoor synth textures with stuttering repetitive sample loops, bass so buoyant it virtually levitates, cybernetic drum patterns and evocative field recordings, Lucky Sinner won him acclaim from the likes of the BBC, The Fader, Pitchfork, NME, Spin Magazine and Drowned In Sound.
