WJC Emerging Artists - Hannah Flacks & Raf Hosking

WJC is pleased to present Hannah Flacks and Raf Hosking as part of our Emerging artist series for 2025.

Hannah Flacks
Blending together her two great loves of jazz and choral music, Hannah Flacks presents a set of original compositions and reimagined arrangements of jazz and soul tunes, brought to life by a talented ensemble of vocalists. This group will showcase dreamlike, meditative harmonies that will captivate you from start to finish. Inspired by vocalists like Lianne La Havas and Melody Gardot, as well as Wellington’s Octopus in Heels, witness the magic unfold at The Cavern Club this March 20th. Featuring: Hannah Flacks (vocals + compositions), Joseph Jenkins (guitar), Darcy Monteath (bass) and special guests.

Raf Hosking
“For the first time, Rafael Hosking presents his original compositions in an intimate setting. This improvised music draws on Raf's love of musicians like Wayne Shorter, Nubya Garcia, and Melissa Aldana while also taking inspiration from classical composers Toru Takemitsu, Salina Fisher, and Max Reich. Joining him are some of Pōneke’s most exciting musicians: Elisa Bird (baritone saxophone), and Jasper Renner-Allen (drums). Throughout the evening, the group will explore intricate rhythms as well as moments lyrical expressiveness.”
