IAS Community Gallery is proud to present Wellington's Coastline: Te Whanganui-a-Tara & Beyond by Pōneke artist and printmaker, Kirsty White.
Kirsty's evocative prints of the New Zealand landscape weave together local histories and culture by combining Western-style etchings with patterns inspired by Māori whakairo, Fijian masi cloth and Samoan tapa. Through this approach, she offers, alongside her beautiful depictions of hills, water, and native fauna, a deeper reflection on New Zealand's diverse cultural heritage, rich history, and profound connection to the land
This exhibition brings together Kirsty's much loved etchings of Wellington's coastline, along with new work from other parts of Aotearoa as her sketch book travels new regions.
