Marcel Zwezerynen's art is a visceral exploration of "The Beautiful Tension"—the breathtaking, often unsettling dance between chaos and control that defines our existence. It’s in the seemingly insignificant daily choices, the ripple effect of our decisions, that Marcel finds the core of his creative impulse. He sees this tension mirrored in the wild, unpredictable forms of nature and the turbulent currents of world events.

Marcel's materials—the quirky, oddly shaped castoffs, the discarded scrap metal, the forgotten fragments of industry—become vessels for this inherent conflict. They are not simply raw materials to him; they are voices whispering stories of resilience and transformation. He is drawn to their inherent imperfections, their hidden potential, the narratives etched into every rust-eaten surface and jagged edge.

Marcel's background as an engineer isn't just a technical skillset; it's a fundamental part of his artistic process, providing the precision and understanding needed to shape these salvaged whispers into powerful statements. Each piece is a tangible representation of that beautiful, relentless tension—the delicate balance between chance and intention, the raw energy of creation wrestling with the constraints of form, a constant push and pull between order and the glorious, unpredictable unfolding of life itself. This is not merely art; it is a reflection of the interconnectedness of life, a celebration of the inherent contradictions that make us who we are.

Marcel's art is also displayed internationally (Hong Kong, Holland, Singapore, New Zealand) and includes significant local installations: the Cherry Tree, Pied Shag, and NZ Falcon sculptures in Katikati, and the towering Giant Bike in Taupo.
