"We will carve the most beautiful church that you have ever seen." Carving students who worked on St Paul's Church, 1930s.
Join Lisa Reweti, Kaihāpai Kaupapa/Public Programmes Presenter, at Whanganui Regional Museum, for this rich morning of learning and practice.
You'll meet at St Paul's Church, Putiki, to savour the unique and stunning carving, weaving and kōwhaiwhai [painted patterns]. You'll then relocate (using your own transport) to the Regional Museum to view the kōwhaiwhai adorning the wharenui-styled museum gallery Te-Ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi. After which you will take part in a collaborative block printing session where you will work together to create a large piece of art.
Advance booking essential.
