Raga Jazz is a concert series featuring a phenomenal Indian singer Daljeet Kaur with Auckland's most favorable Indo-Western fusion band, TAKADIMI to join us for an exhilarating evening of musical exploration, where the rich traditions of Indian classical music converge with the vibrant rhythms of Western Jazz. This unique event will take place on April 17, 2025, at the Swami Narayan Complex in Papatoetoe, featuring the talented ensemble Takadimi, known for its innovative fusion of genres.
Experience the enchanting melodies of India as Takadimi brings together a captivating blend of classical ragas, evocative folklores, and beloved Bollywood hits, all seamlessly intertwined with the harmonic sophistication and grooves of Jazz, Latin, and Blues. The concert promises an unforgettable journey through sound, showcasing the remarkable versatility of each genre.
Special guest artists will join the Takadimi ensemble to elevate the performance to new heights. We are thrilled to welcome New Zealand's most iconic Jazz saxophonist, Nathan Haines, whose saxophone mastery will complement Takadimi's rich musical tapestry. The concert will also feature Auckland's popular Sitar player, Shalu Garg, ensuring an evening filled with extraordinary talent.
Takadimi comprises Alan Brown on keys, Olivier Holland on bass, Swap Gomez-Drums, Manjit Singh on Tabla, with a few guest artists.
The "Raga Jazz with Takadimi" concert is proudly presented by the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board and sponsored by National Steels Ltd, to offer a complimentary ticket.
