Join us for a fun and feel-good movie night at one of Porirua's Community Emergency Hubs!

Bring your whānau, and join us for a tour of the Pāuatahanui Community Emergency Hub. We will then pop across the road to the Lighthouse Cinema, and watch Aotearoa's new movie, 'Tinā'. We’ll provide some light snacks for you to enjoy throughout the movie, as well as some awesome spot prizes!

The story of 'Tinā' follows Samoan teacher Mareta Percival (played by Anapela Polataivao), who’s navigating life after the tragic death of her daughter in the Christchurch earthquakes. Mareta reluctantly steps into a relief teacher role at an elite private school, where she’s introduced to a group of students who could really use some guidance, love, and a bit of inspiration. She finds herself lighting a spark in these kids, pushing them to compete in the Big Sing choir competition - chucking in a few laughs for us along the way.

This is a great opportunity to connect with your community, learn about Porirua's Community Emergency Hubs, and have a fun evening together.

This event will start at Pāuatahanui School, one of Porirua’s Community Emergency Hubs and then move across the road to the Lighthouse Cinema for a movie and snacks. Community Emergency Hubs are designed to empower communities by providing a space where people can come together after a major disaster to share resources, solve problems, and support one another.

Throughout March, we’re hosting events at Community Emergency Hubs across the region to help people connect with their neighbours and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Tickets are free, however seats are limited so please book your seat through Eventfinda. We can’t wait to see you there!
