Community gardens are the hidden gems of our city. From lush pocket gardens to rambling urban oasis, you’ll find them tucked away behind bowling clubs on Mount Victoria and nestled between houses in the Brooklyn Hills. They’re as varied as the people who tend them but are all great places to learn about growing local kai, to connect with others, or take some time out.

Community gardens in a different area of the city will be hosting visitors on each Open Sunday. Discover something new in your community by coming along - take part in a workshop, get some gardening tips, meet our city's passionate green thumbs, get your hands in the soil, find out how to join a garden, and maybe take home a seedling of your own.

On Sunday 16 March, come and tour four different Community Gardens, located in Pōneke's Eastern suburbs! You can either make your own way around the garden or join a social guided ebike tour with Pedal Ready: https://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2025/ebike-tour-community-gardens-open-sunday/wellington
