About Lyndsey Fineran:
Lyndsey Fineran is the Artistic Director of Auckland Writers Festival Waituhi o Tāmaki - one of the largest, and best-attended of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Prior to moving to Aotearoa New Zealand, she was Deputy Head of Programming at Cheltenham Literature Festival – the oldest (est. 1949) and one of the largest literary festivals in the world - where she worked for a decade, as well as serving as a board member of the British Arts Festivals Association, a judge on The Desmond Elliot Prize and is an alumnus of The Bookseller’s prestigious nationwide Rising Stars programme, which identifies and champions the book world’s future leaders.
About the Auckland Writers Festival Waituhi o Tāmaki:
Auckland Writers Festival Waituhi o Tāmaki is Aotearoa New Zealand’s premier annual literary event and the Southern Hemisphere’s best-attended book festival per capita. Taking place over 6 days every May, the Festival showcases over 220 writers from Aotearoa and across the globe in more than 150 events, and previous guests have included Booker, Pulitzer, Ockham, and Academy Award winners appearing alongside dynamic new talent. The 2024 Festival - the first co-led by new Artistic Director Lyndsey Fineran and Managing Director Catriona Ferguson - ushered in a new era for the Festival, breaking all prior audience records with 85,000 attendances and saw book sales increase by 50% on the previous year, with 11,000 copies sold. The programme for the 2025 Festival (13-18th May) will be released in mid-March.
