Auckland Central Volleyball Club presents the 2025 School Beach Volleyball League!

The School Beach Volleyball Championship aims to encourage the practice of beach volleyball among students from various institutions. It offers a space for young people to develop their sporting skills, strengthen teamwork, and experience competition healthily and respectfully. It also promotes physical activity, discipline, and companionship in a school environment.

Beach Volleyball Tournament Rules

Categories:
Junior: Players under 15 years of age
Senior: Players 15 years and older

Basic Rules:

Teams:

-All teams that wish to register can do so.
-Each team will consist of two players in the Senior category and four players in the Junior category, with no substitutions during --the match, except in exceptional cases, such as injuries.
-In the Junior category, players must be under 15 years of age, while in the Senior category, players must be 15 years or older.
-Mixed teams are not allowed (only men or only women per team in each category).

Match Duration:

-Matches will be played in the best of three sets.
-First and second sets: Played to 15 points, with a minimum 2-point difference to win the set.
-Third set (if necessary): Played to 12 points, with a minimum 2-point difference to win the set.

Scoring System:

-The scoring system will be a rallying point, meaning a point is awarded on each play, regardless of who served.
-A team must win a set by at least 2 points.
-In the third set, if the score reaches 12-12, play will continue until one team achieves a 2-point advantage.

Competition Format:

-Teams will be grouped based on the number of registrants, with teams placed in positions accordingly.
-After the first round, teams will be divided based on results, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the Round of 16, -while the other teams will continue to compete for the remaining positions.

General Beach Volleyball Rules:

Serve:

-The serve must be made from behind the baseline.
-The player has one opportunity to serve correctly.

Touches and Reception:

-The ball can be touched with any part of the body, but not with a prolonged "hit" (i.e., the ball cannot remain in contact with the
player’s body).
-A team cannot make more than three touches to return the ball to the opposing court.
-The touch must be clean, meaning the ball cannot be carried or contacted incorrectly.

Block:

-Blocks are allowed, but they do not count as one of the three allowed touches.
-During a block, players cannot invade the opponent's court or touch the net.

Pass and Defence:

-Passes must be precise, and the defence must allow the ball to cross the net correctly.
-Defence cannot involve "sweeping" or "hitting" the ball to the ground; irregular touches should be avoided.

Net:

-No player is allowed to touch the net during play, whether in attack, defence, or movement.
-If a player accidentally touches the net while the ball is in play, a foul will be called, and a point will be awarded to the opposing team.

Behavior and Fair Play:

-Respect and courtesy between players, coaches, referees, and spectators will be encouraged.
-A sporting attitude is essential for all participants.

Equipment:

-Players must wear comfortable and appropriate sports clothing for beach volleyball, such as sports t-shirts and shorts or swimwear.
-Sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended if conditions require.

Referees and Officials:

-A general coordinator will be available to address any questions or concerns.
-Each team will take turns refereeing before or after their match.
-Officials will be responsible for ensuring the match progresses according to the established rules.

This tournament aims to provide young people with an enriching experience, both in developing sports skills and fostering a sense of school community, highlighting the importance of teamwork, personal growth, and the regular practice of outdoor sports.
