“Wellington’s folk darlings”, The Wooden Box Band.
Come enjoy a lively night of music at The Undercurrent. Arrive early to grab a seat & a delicious drink or snack.
The six piece group have a number of recordings of original music under their collective belts and have been performing all over the lower North Island for many years.
While they do have an acoustic base, expect the occasional blast of trumpet and electiric guitar to cut through the tight harmonies of their organic sound.
Band members have previously played in the Mockers, Newtown Rocksteady, Jessie James and the Outlaws, Balkanista, and the Zimmermans.
Their songcraft has earned them accolades at folk festivals and overseas publications. Subject matter is often local people, historical New Zealand events, or issues that concern us now, on personal and global levels.
The band is made up of Jessie Moss, Emily Clemmet, Jeremy Desmond, Murray Costello, Paddy Burgin and Olivia Campion.
The band’s unique sound is based on their rhythmic acoustic guitars, an overlay of harmony singing from the three vocalists, and solid bass and electric guitar.
