In 2008, Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Rangitāne o Wairarapa, Pāpāwai Marae, Kohunui Marae, Greater Wellington Regional Council, the Department of Conservation and South Wairarapa District Council came together to form the Wairarapa Moana Wetlands Project. By pooling resources and working towards a shared vision, the Project aims to achieve much more than could have been achieved by individual organisations.
Wairio Wetlands is a self drive walk.
Location:
Opposite the entrance to Boggy Pond. There will be a Mountains to Sea flag there to let you know you have arrived at the right spot.
