Join us for a relaxing evening of raranga (weaving) with rongoā inspired refreshments!
Start the night with a refreshing rongoā infused mocktail or cocktail and kōrero with new friends.
Weave a bouquet of putiputi (flowers) and give it to a loved one.

No experience required!

Woven taonga will be available for sale / commission as we get ready for the holiday season.

What’s included in your ticket:
- Complimentary rongoā infused drink of your choice [alcoholic/non-alcoholic] or beer/wine and snacks.
- 2 hour weaving session.
- All harakeke (pre-prepared and dyed) materials and tools provided.
- The *TAONGA ticket includes 2 complimentary drinks and a woven taonga gift.

*Funds raised will go towards our Ōtari Kaiwhatu 3 day Wānanga / Retreat early next year.

We need your support to ensure the event goes ahead. There’s a minimum number of ticket sales we need to reach.
You can help us by:
- Purchasing your ticket early.
- Spreading the word with your whānau, friends and colleagues.
- Staying connected: We’ll keep you updated as we work towards making this happen and look forward to making this a regular event in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

*Tickets are fully refundable.

ABOUT ŌTARI RARANGA
Ōtari Raranga Weavers was established during Covid lockdown in 2021. It began as a beginner series of classes aiming to revitalise traditional raranga practices and build community in the surrounding suburbs of Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush. Tickets are based on a koha style of payment.

We have stayed committed to nurturing the growth and development of our growing weaving community. Some tauira (students) have been attending since 2021 and have dedicated time to kaiwhina (support) beginners during class, preserving and caring for our Pā Harakeke, contributing to Ōtari Open Day festivities and the many other events we are involved in.

Thanks to the Wellington Communities Trust, we are able to offer a year long, free-to-attend programme to our tuakana rōpū (advanced weaving group) to significantly enhance their mātauranga in recognition of their contribution and dedication in the Ōtari Raranga Weavers setting.

*Funds raised will contribute towards our much anticipated 3 day Wānanga in Ōtaki next year where tauira will start their FIRST KĀKAHU!
