Te Whānau o Te Puna Reo o Ritimana Presents: Waiata Mai - Te Puna Reo O Ritimana Fundraiser

Nau mai, haere mai e hoa mā! This Te Wiki o te Reo Māori brings us together for a fundraising event in support of Te Puna Reo o Ritimana and celebrate te Reo Māori revitalization. Featuring performances by Anna Coddington, Mohi, Jordyn with a Why, and Geneva AM, with Moana Maniapoto as Special Guest MC.

In celebration of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2024, Te Whānau o Te Puna Reo o Ritimana is proud to present a night of waiata Māori, bringing together some of Aotearoa’s most talented artists. The event will take place on Friday 20 September at The Tuning Fork and feature performances from some of the biggest stars of the Aotearoa music scene, including Anna Coddington, Mohi, Jordyn with a Why, and Geneva AM, with the iconic Moana Maniapoto as the special guest MC.
This special evening is not just a celebration of waiata Māori and te ao Māori, it’s also a fundraiser for Te Puna Reo o Ritimana, a total immersion Māori-medium early childhood center in Ponsonby that was established in 1985.

All the artists performing have a connection to Ritimana in some way. Artist Geneva AM, who attended Ritimana in 1993 reflects on her time there: "Looking back at my time at Ritimana, I feel incredibly fortunate to have begun my early education in an environment that focused on Te Ao Māori. The pathway that this early decision set me on has empowered me in countless ways, shaping my music and guiding me as a mother. I am so grateful Kōhanga and Puna Reo centres like Ritimana have grown to become places of total reo immersion learning, making it easier for the next generations of whānau to access and embrace these enriching environments."
All proceeds will go directly towards supporting resources and maintaining the whare, ensuring an enriching environment for tamariki.
