Vor-stellen (Brendan Moran, Steve Reay and Jared Johanson) is an experimental group that blends fixated guitars and drums with looped ad-hoc electronic layers producing perforated waves of uncanny, vanishing sound which echoes off the fourth wall. Vor-stellen set forth on an exploration, folding the weird and the eerie into a dark ecology of long-sound via indefatigable environments of modulation and improvisation, creating sonic counterpoints that hinge on a reanimation of musical gestures.
Featuring Flying Nun alumni (from The Subliminals, avoid!avoid, among others), new provisional assemblage Vor-stellen play Welly for the first time since releasing their debut album, Parallelograms, courtesy of Flying Nun.
Hail, Meteor! is a bi-lingual, post-punk, death-pop band from Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Formed near the end of 2021 the band is Isobel Joy te Aho-White (bass, vocals), David Coventry (guitar, vocals), Simon Waterfield (drums, samples) and John Kingston (guitar). Hail, Meteor! is focused on dense, chaotic harmony, on gasped melody and swaying widths of space. Te Aho-White’s vocals draw on the varying essences of a mixed heritage to sing post-punk psalms to existentialism, to the divine feminine, to healing, mental illness, death and introversion.
Jagged experimentalists FKA Lovers crawl from the basements of Berhampore to bring their fusion of psych and krautrock to the stage. Utilising MPC clocked arpeggiators on antique synths and a bass guitar they explore a sonic haze that at times veers close to falling on it’s arse in a delay drenched implosion. All on or all off.
