Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet has been called ‘the greatest love story ever told’ and it is as relevant today as it ever was.

This is a play about the amazing strength of first love; about the importance of loving unconditionally, in the face of everything the older generation can throw at you; about the purity of the first time you gave your heart thinking that no one else had ever felt such a passion; and that it will last forever.

There is no secret about how this tragic story ends. It runs like an unstoppable freight train for an action-packed two hours to its inevitable end. In a society where people are polarised, peer and parental expectations can be fatal.

Titirangi Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy is on-stage between 19-30 March 2024.
