The Invitation Slow Melody

The Invitation Slow Melody is part of a feast of music from musicians taking part in the Pacific Festival Of Brass - the 144th National Brass Band Championships. Ten invited musicians perform their chosen slow melody for three judges. Their choices are a variety of familiar tunes that with will delight and amaze.

This year marks a significant milestone as we bring the 2024 National Brass Band Championships back to Auckland after thirteen years and we have given it a name that is closely connected with the vibrant South Auckland community, as well as a brand new venue and place. The Pacific Festival of Brass welcomes brass bands from as far as Japan for a week of competitive and friendly music making.
All events are free entry / general admission apart from the Invitation Slow Melody on Wednesday 10 July at 8.00pm which is ticketed and general admission.

Other major events are the Junior Champion of Champions, the Open Champion of Champions on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is band events across five grade as well as the Parade of Bands at 2.30 pm. Saturday is further band events across the day into the evening with free entry.
