The Good Taste Selector

The Good Taste Selector is a vinyl DJ who plays jazz, funk, soul, rnb, disco, rap, reggae, dub, ska, afrobeat, drum&bass, jungle. . . as the name suggests; good taste music. Importing a 7” of Planet Rock in 1983, recording it to cassette tape then blasting it at local Hip Hop breaking battles and jams in Wellington city is from whence TGTSelector hails.

From late 2015 selecting choice cuts at Sprig and Fern Tinakori Road, then Jackson Street, Petone, since October 2016 at Moon Bar, Newtown, and other Wgtn city bars.

The Good Taste Selector had earlier co-formed Tū Crucial Sound System in 1999 toasting over reggae CD’s and records, active for just a few years, then restarting in 2016, strictly vinyl selections.

The other musical output from TGTS is through his prestige as Te Kupu, leader and co-founder of U.H.P. (Upper Hutt Posse), the first nationally recognised rap group in the country.
