A broken family letter, a period of dusty times. After brushing away the dust of history, a piece of the past that is either happy or sad, longing or melancholy is displayed in front of me. People come in pursuit of a better life and they are gone for dreams. They are silent but they should not be forgotten. The yellowed old photos, the incomplete historical relics, and the letters to the family that were not sent all tell the story of the hard time of the early Chinese settlers during the Gold Rush. This is a theatrical performance with live band, dance and actors.

Venue: Cloisters Studio

This event is part of Off Centre, an arts festival that shows off the best of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre – eclectic, exuberant, accessible. With around 40 events, the place will be filled with music, comedy, theatre, and vibrant entertainment. One day, two nights, it's all happening on the 8-9 March 2024.
