The Rogue's regular Sunday afternoon jazz. Funky, jazzy, soulful jazz. Pizza, beer, jazz, on a Sunday perfect!

This week featuring local bass player, Patrick Bleakly and his trio featuring Theo Thompson guitar and John Rae drums.

Since his early days as a member of iconic New Zealand band Blerta, Patrick Bleakley has been an active and easily recognisable figure in the Wellington and New Zealand music scene.

Patrick is a founding member of the eclectic and popular jazz ensemble, The Troubles, who performed at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival in 2014 and perform and tour regularly around New Zealand and the world. He is also the bassist for Brazilian singer Alda Rezendez at the iconic Latin Club in Wellington. In early 2014 Patrick played with the Jonathan Crayford Trio for Crayford’s NZ release of the acclaimed CD, Dark Light.

In his early career performing around Wellington in the 1970s, Patrick played with notable musicians Bruno Lawrence, Bernie McGann, Fane Flaws and Bill Lake. More recently, Patrick travelled to Sri Lanka to teach music to youth and perform with local artists. In mid 2013 performed with the Wellington Orchestra’s critically acclaimed Duke Ellington Symphony, Night Creature.

Few musicians have remained as engaged and relevant in the New Zealand music circles as Patrick Bleakley

Music from 5pm Free Entry (throw some change in the Koha Tuba for the band)
