Learn all about our collection of ‘trench art’ at a fascinating talk by Collections Technician Murray McGuigan.
Trench art broadly refers to decorative items that have a direct link to armed conflict, often made from discarded war materials. Our collection mostly relates to the Pacific theatre of World War Two and is made from materials such as Perspex from aircraft canopies, brass from bullet and shell casings, and local materials such as coconut shell.
They’re beautiful objects with an intriguing history, so come and long and learn all about them with Murray!
