The themes of our July school holiday experiences are Matariki and Safe cat, Safe Wildlife, with activities designed to inspire creativity, imagination and promote wildlife protection.
Wednesday 10 July, 10am - 1pm
Craft Session: MATARIKI MOBILES
Make your own Matariki star mobile: Learn the names and meanings of the seven Matariki stars as you create your own take-home Matariki Mobile.
All Materials supplied.
Thursday 11 July, 10am - 1pm
SAFE CAT, SAFE WILDLIFE
Creative Activity & Conservation Awareness Talk (With special animal visitor).
Come to Kiwi North and have fun making cat toys that will keep your moggie occupied, active, happy, and less likely to hunt native species!
Did you know that you can make cool toys for your cat to play with?
Would you like to see native species such as geckos or robins in your back yard?
You are more likely to if your cat is not out hunting due to boredom. Cat toys are a great way of stopping your cat from hunting precious native wildlife.

WISHING STARS
Join us in a celestial craft-session: Decorate your star with your hopes and dreams for the future.
All materials supplied.
Thursday 18 July, 10am - 1pm

** Adult supervision is required for all experiences.
PLUS
The Heritage Park rides will be running on Wednesdays during the school holidays, including the train, tram, tractor and miniature railway. The train will also be running on Thursdays and Fridays during the school holidays.
All rides will also be running on Sunday 21 July.
Tickets for these rides can be purchased from the Heritage Clubs in the Heritage Park.

STORYTELLING COMPETITION
Get creative these school holidays and write or draw the most interesting story you can think of about the themes in our Matariki at the Museum: Trilogy One exhibition.
Maybe you will write your story about an expedition to view a solar eclipse, or make a mini magazine (zine) and draw the combustion of a star!
Let your imagination guide you to your own original story.

Age ranges for the storytelling competition include three categories:
5 years - 9 years
10 years - 14 years
15 years - 18 years
The best entries in each category will receive an annual family membership to Kiwi North.
