Restore Hibiscus and Bays Planting Day - Ōtanerua Reserve

Restore Hibiscus &; Bays Community Planting Day - Ōtanerua Reserve, Hatfields Reserve.

We have plenty of native trees, shrubs and grasses to plant this planting season and we would love for you to come along and help us. Bring along your friends and family as well, as everyone is welcome.

RHB has been supporting a local community group at this reserve since 2021. This year, we will be adding 100 trees to the planting site at the front of the reserve (which used to be a grassy bog dominated by a gigantic wattle tree), and a further 400 native grasses into the riparian (streamside) edge in the bush providing further habitat and helping to stabilise the stream bank.

Where to meet: 19 - 21 Ōtanerua Road, Hatfields Beach. (At the reserve entrance between 19 - 21 Ōtanerua Road, Hatfields, Orewa)

What to bring/wear: gardening gloves, water bottle, snacks, raincoat, sunblock, sturdy shoes/boots. Please bring a clean spade if you can
