A Journey of Creativity and Connection: Steve Ting's Experience with Rēkohu

In 2022, digital artist Steve Ting embarked on a transformative journey, starting with the task of printing 200 Moriori flute reproductions on his 3D printer. This unexpected project led him to the secluded beaches of Rēkohu, equipped with a microphone and VR camera, to capture the essence of this unique island and its Indigenous people for a museum exhibition.

Join Steve as he shares the trials and triumphs of his contributions to the Hou Rongo exhibition. Discover how Rēkohu and its vibrant community have profoundly impacted his life and creative vision. Don’t miss this insightful talk, offered alongside the Hou Rongo – Moriori | Music | Manawa exhibition in the Beautiful Science Gallery from 14 September to 27 October.

5.30pm, Thursday 17 October
