On 27 April from 10AM, another Orange Bike Ride will be held in Otaihanga Domain and along the Waikanae River, building on the hugely successful event of last year. All ages are welcome.

Prizes will be available for the best dressed bike and person, preferably orange.

There will be free Dutch biscuits/snacks available for participants and visitors. Paradise Coffee Cart will be serving Darkhorse Coffee and the Council is providing resources to keep the kids entertained.

The Orange Bike Ride aims to promote cycling as a sustainable means of transport which helps us to address climate change through a standout and enjoyable family-oriented event connecting New Zealanders with the local Dutch communities in as many regions as possible across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The event forms part of the annual Dutch Week festival, which will be held from 27 April to 6 May 2024, celebrating all things Dutch such as culture, language, heritage and food, highlighting the strong connections between the Netherlands and Aotearoa New Zealand. It aims to share Dutch culture and contributions of local Dutch communities and businesses in a diverse Aotearoa New Zealand.
