Everyone is warmingly invited to join Canterbury Film Society for a free open screening of an Anti-War masterpiece: Grand Illusion (Jean Renoir - 1937 - 114 mins - France - G)
A funny, sad and deeply humane tale of French prisoners of war in WWI. Renoir's pacifist plea was released on the verge of a second World War and moved Orson Welles to declare: “If I could save only one film, it would be Grand Illusion.”
Presented with the support of Quakers Aotearoa New Zealand, this film is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7.00pm and you can mingle in the foyer (home baked treats and drinks - please bring cash as eftpos is not available).
Let us take you further into film!
