2) March's theme (International Forest Day and World Water Day) - Trees and their benefits, NZ native animals and plants, the importance of water
Objective - Understand how important trees, native animals and plants and water are to our world.
Activity - Exploring a local park to learn about different trees (natives and non-natives), make tree and leaf rubbings that we will put together to make a giant tree, the water cycle experiment.

3) April's theme (Earth Day) - Reducing our impact on the environment
Objective - Learn about how the way we live can impact our natural environment. How do we get rid of food waste in our homes. What can we do to make use of this rich energy source. Activity - Interact with a compost system and learn about worms, see how long different types of food have been decomposing for and what can and can’t go into a backyard compost bin. Children will have an opportunity to take some compost and use it to plant a seed in a gro-pot to take home.
