Milton is like the narrow point of the funnel for everyone travelling from Dunedin, to places south, east and west. That makes it a great place for a weekly market, and the eye-catching historic Tokomairiro Church is a beautiful venue. The church is open to visit, during market hours.
If the weather gets bad, too windy or wet, the market is held in the spacious gym behind the church.
Some stalls are at the market every weekend, like the sausage sizzle featuring Milton-made beef sausages. Others come once a month, or regularly during the growing season; and some marketeers are just passing through. There is always a variety of stalls: handcrafts, new and secondhand goods. You never know what you might find.
Please bring cash, most stalls rely on cash, because it's someone's hobby, or house de-clutter, or a community fundraiser. Don't worry, if you forget, Milton has two ATMs a short distance from the market.
