Auckland Performing Arts Academy’s production of Mary Poppins.

The supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical, Mary Poppins, has delighted audiences around the world and will now be performed by the talented students of Auckland Performing Arts Academy in a wonderful youth production this July.

The magical story of the world's favourite nanny will be brought to the stage with lively choreography, wonderful effects and unforgettable songs. Brilliantly adapted from the wonderful stories by PL Travers and the original film, Mary Poppins the musical is co-created by Cameron Mackintosh, with a book by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes.

With a timeless score by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman, including the classic songs ‘Jolly Holiday’, ‘Step in Time’, ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ and ‘Feed the Birds’ with new songs and additional music and lyrics, including ‘Practically Perfect’, by the Olivier Award-winning British team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

Please note: This show features two alternating casts of youth performers (Cast Brimstone and Cast Treacle).

The venue opens 60 minutes before the start of each show. Refreshments are available. Cash sales and Eftpos available.

Auckland Performing Arts Academy is a premier youth musical theatre training programme, for 7 to approx. 22 year olds, based on the North Shore. APAA produces two full-scale musicals every year. Students attend weekly show rehearsals and receive musical theatre training through classes of singing, dance, acting and performance skills from industry professionals. Registrations for their next production open in May, with the programme commencing on 27 July and finishing with 6-performances at the ASB Waterfront Theatre on December 13, 14, 15 December, 2024.
