The MSO String and Wind ensemble invites you to embark on an intimate musical journey at the Te Tuhi Gallery, offering a unique opportunity to connect with our exceptional musicians.

Internationally known for her thrilling energy on the podium and her deeply creative approach, Chinese-born New Zealander Tianyi Lu collaborates with major orchestras and opera houses worldwide. The ensembles of the Manukau Symphony are excited to welcome her back.

Our program, aptly named ‘DIVERSIONS,’ celebrates the brilliant compositions of iconic New Zealand composer Douglas Lilburn, beautifully capturing the essence of Aotearoa’s musical style. Among the highlights is Pärt’s mesmerising ‘Fratres’ arranged for Wind Octet and Percussion, which blends seamlessly with Bach’s timeless and beloved A minor violin concerto. The evening also features the captivating flute solo by Helen Fisher and the romantic Serenade for Wind Ensemble by Richard Strauss.

This promises to be an evening of musical diversity, set in the welcoming ambiance of Te Tuhi Gallery. Additionally, enjoy the convenience of free parking in Pakuranga, making it even more accessible.Join us in celebrating the richness of New Zealand’s musical heritage and the timeless classics of Bach.

Seating is general admission only.
