Māmā Mihirangi & The Māreikura present the big concert before their international tour of Canada in July and August 2024.

An Indigenous Producer, Songwriter and Tohunga, a traditional Māori Priestess of Io Matangaro, with grace, fierceness, warmth and humour, Māmā Mihirangi’s lyrics poetically celebrate the values, lore, medicines and customs of her lineage, uplifting her audience with her naturalness, infectious laughter and fearless authenticity. Weaving soaring ancient chants with intricate harmonies, traditional and contemporary instruments with beats and deep bass through a rich tapestry of ancestral knowledge, Māmā Mihirangi produces a unique musical experience that transcends boundaries and connects audiences to the divine feminine essence of Indigenous culture.

The Māreikura symbolise the virtue and strength of Indigenous women, showcasing traditional women’s dance, weaponry, instruments, and Māori martial arts with contemporary choreography. Their performances evoke a sense of reverence, resilience, and fierce femininity through an ancient artistry that honours their ancestors while embracing the contemporary world, creating a powerful expression of cultural pride.

Māmā Mihirangi & the Māreikura invoke the full spectrum of the feminine spirit, from raw vulnerability to Indigenous disciplines that are instrumental to the global equality of feminine expression, empowerment and freedom. A musical journey of the soul that travels back through the ancient lines and melodies of lineages that connect us all. Informative, inclusive and truly inspiring Māmā Mihirangi & the Māreikura leave their audience spellbound and inspired by the profound depth of their authenticity.
