Welcome to an evening of defiant pop music for a better future.
Lake South takes the best of the Aotearoa New Zealand songwriting tradition and infuses it with raw emotion and electronics. It's like if Don McGlashan went through some hard times and bought a synth. He released his debut album 'If You're Born On An Island the Ocean Heals You' in 2017 and the follow-up, 'Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika', in late 2019. Both records have been critically acclaimed with Graham Reid calling Lake an "electro-folk postcard poet of his doubting generation". His 3rd album 'The Light You Throw' is a record full of hope, joy and defiance. Expertly crafted odes to friends, the cities they live in, and the futures they strive for.
Led by keyboard player and songwriter Stephanie Cairns, Pōneke trio Birdfeeder summons the saltiest of tunes from the wild south seas and granny’s curiosity cabinet. Their art-pop sound is characterised by unearthly melodies, surprising shifts and vintage timbres. Music for time travellers, tea leaf readers and full moon gazers.
Eigenface are new band formed from the ashes of Moonlander
