Hāpua Farm Walk

Hāpua farm at Tauweru, includes wetlands, native bush and great views of surrounding hill country farmland. The walk will include farm tracks, open paddocks and bush tracks. The walk will begin high on the farm airstrip with views of the Tararua ranges. Explore an area where, earlier this year, GNS Science undertook research into the unique topography of parallel ridges and ponds. The walk continues east to two areas of native bush at the back of the farm, which have been fenced. One block has been fenced for about 18 months and the other is a QEII covenant, which has had stock excluded since 2006. The bush includes large totara, matai and kahikatea and birdlife including kererū and tui. The walk will cover about 6 km, which will take 3 to 4 hours.

This self drive walk starts and finishes at the same location.

1094 Masterton Castlepoint Rd, Tauweru. (the first right after the intersection with Te Parae Rd).
