Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club, Mahia East Coast Road

Starting at the carpark at Whangawehi estuary, this is an in and out ride to the end of the peninsula, 45 – 50 kms return, depending on whether we go right to end, along ridge with great sea views. Much of the road is now sealed, the gravel sections good. It is probably more suited to e-bikes, as there is significant initial climbing, followed by exhilarating switchbacks.
