Want a night out that's a little different from the usual restaurant or bar? Come along to taste award-winning boutique gins and get a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of Tūhura Otago Museum's basement collection.
We are partnering with Alchemist Mixology and showcasing Sandymount Gin from the Otago Peninsula for visitors to taste alongside a delicious antipasto selection. Alchemist's beautiful cocktails are made with top-shelf spirits and use mixers and garnishes sourced right here in Aotearoa.
As well as the tasting, there will be a seldom-offered tour of our Collections Stores and Conservation Lab – with over 1.5 million objects and taoka, the stores are vast and astoundingly varied!
In celebration of World Ocean Day, this edition of Gin & the Collection will involve a bit of ocean promotion! We'll look at 19th-century Blashka glass models of sea animals, discuss notions of ocean travel, explore marine life from Aotearoa and beyond, and highlight objects that illustrate the motion of ocean waves.
This will be an evening to tell your friends about. Don’t miss out – limited tickets available. 18+ only.
