Gentle is the new buzzword in the yoga world. Yoga does not have to be about how successfully you can tie yourself into a pretzel or how long you can hold the posture. Gentle yoga is about deepening your connection with and coming home to your own body; taking time to explore body and breath moving together through slow, gentle rhythms. Turning inwards and taking the time to notice and feel, ultimately restoring balance in life. Yoga for mind, body and spirit.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This is the ideal programme for older practitioners. It also suits those that are recovering from an injury or who have not practiced recently. Suitable also for beginners or anyone of any age who just wants to practice in their own time without feeling judgement or comparison.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A CLASS:
– Pranayama: working with the breath to centre and energise
– Slow flow and longer held postures to strengthen, tone and increase flexibility
– Core strength as it is a key element to strengthen and support spinal health
– Restorative to calm and still the mind
– Savasana: the deepest healing takes place in the stillness that ends the practice

YOUR TUTOR:
Juliet Slogrove has been practicing yoga for 40 years and is NZ Yoga Alliance registered teacher.
A word from Juliet : “I am a great believer in the transforming and healing power of yoga. Yoga will not change our lives, but it can alter the way we live them. Our lives are so filled with rush and worry that it is all too easy to forget about the joy of just being.”

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT THIS CLASS:
Sue C. (July 2022)
I have been attending Juliet’s class for about 3 years and absolutely love it. During that time I have had a hip replacement and Juliet has been so supportive as to what I should and shouldn’t do – she also encouraged me to come to class during my early recovery and do very gentle exercise. We started out as a reasonably small group with varying degrees of fitness but have all found ourselves a lot stronger and more flexible.
