In this artist talk on The Kilns Project, Elisabeth Vullings will delve into a brief history of her art practice and how ceramics has now become an important part of her studio work. She will discuss how The Kilns Project came about, what inspired these works and the process involved with creating this exhibition.
Elisabeth Vullings is a Kāpiti-based artist who has a background in interior architecture. Her work is driven by the architecture and archaeology of small, obscure and often isolated sites around New Zealand.
The Kilns Project explores the relocation of two beehive pottery kilns, built in Te Horo in the early 1970’s by acclaimed potter Mirek Smišek.
