Design Hui: Te Whakaoranga Kate Sheppard Memorial Project

We are delighted to invite you to a Design Hui for Te Whakaoranga, the Kate Sheppard Memorial Enhancement Project.

This Design Hui will take place on the 23rd June, between 11am - 3pm.

The focus for this Design Hui will be to co-create an approach to site enhancement. Through engaging stakeholders in the design hui, design principles will be developed, which will in turn inform the design concept.

Te Whakaoranga began with a group of volunteers from Women in Urbanism Aotearoa and has been underway for several years with key ideas for enhancing the memorial site. We are working to enhance the existing memorial tripartite artwork without altering it. This includes installing seating, elements for greater acknowledgement of wāhine Māori suffragists in our suffrage story, and constructing new, more inviting pathways into the site.
