The "Cooperative Living" event series is designed for individuals interested in various forms of cooperative housing, such as tiny home villages, ecovillages, and co-housing. The series began by highlighting a Tasman District Council policy called Cooperative Living, which permits three or more dwellings on rural land if cooperatively owned or utilised. Building on this, the series aims to provide insights and skills for establishing cooperative living arrangements in the Top of the South.
Part 1 features a presentation by Zola Rose, who extensively researches successful and affordable rural housing models. Having worked in Australia, she shares insights into their development, success factors, affordability, and local applicability.
Part 2 includes structured networking activities to connect potential landowners with those seeking land-sharing opportunities for housing.
