Sci-Fi evenings are back at Tūhura!
Get comfy in our planetarium and enjoy Stanley Kubrick’s visual masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey, on a 360-degree screen.
This groundbreaking film explores evolution, artificial intelligence, and the mysteries of the cosmos as it journeys from the dawn of mankind to the far reaches of space, where Dr. Dave Bowman and his crew confront the enigmatic monolith and the unyielding AI, HAL 9000.
After the screening, one of our science communicators will talk about Kubrick's rumoured ties to the moon landing, and there will be a dramatic reading of Arthur C. Clarke's "The Sentinel," the story that sparked the vision behind 2001: A Space Odyssey.
It's going to be a whirlwind ride through the cosmos, science fiction, and history!
